Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar was the American and British sitarist. She was the youngest and first female to win an award from the British House of Commons Shield she's had nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian of Indian descent to perform live on stage and also be a presenter for the award ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging young star of sitar music. Indian sitar. She is Ravi Shankar's student, and the daughter of Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing between London in the UK to New Delhi. When she arrived in New Delhi, she made her debut at just thirteen years of age. After that, she relocated to Encinitas CA, where she earned the High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha even though she is just 17 years old, has had an impressive recording and performing career. Her father was with her in many performances for several years. In 1998, she released Anourag as her debut album as a solo artist. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. In addition to performing in every major venue, she also has a long stage career. Anoushka isn't just a musician. In 2002, she released the book Bapi The love of My Live this is a pictorial biography which gives a special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. Also, she appeared in film in 2003. She played an Bharat Nayam dancer on Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging celebrity and her popularity is expected to continue growing. Anoushka Shankar was born in England and spent much of her early years in London and Delhi then moving to California in the state where she attended high school. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday she made her debut as a sitar player in front of the audience four years following her nine-year-old father. Anoushka had the opportunity to acquire a variety of valuable experiences by accompanying her dad when he toured the world. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concerts and making recordings alongside George Harrison. As a tribute to her status as one of the top musicians in Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
